The Yorkshire Motor Festival - A Brief History

Prior to May ‘97 Yorkshire never had a true motoring event, and for the inaugural Fair we had the privilege to host the National UK launch of the Chris Rea Film `La Passione´. If that was not enough, we were honored to have the presence of Internationally known racing driver Derek Bell, who was so impressed with the event he christened it the `Goodwood of the North´, and commented that it was `simply the most promising motor event in England´.

Our spectator numbers continually rise each year, and with around 42,000 (source Hull Daily Mail) attending last year's event, there is every indication that the 2001 Festival will be every bit as good. Click on the 2000 plate for pictures.

Over the years there have been many highlights. On the right are just a few.
